It was anticipated that well over 7,000 visitors would enjoy demonstration and exhibits of various Japanese culture such as Bonsai, Martial Art, Calligraphy, Dance, Origami and ever popular Japanese Cuisine. For the majority of people in this particular region, Japan may still appear as a far away unfamiliar country. Perhaps because of this reason the local visitors might have enjoyed discovering the quite different cultural activities demonstrated by Japanese volunteers, many of them traveled to the city for the specific events.
Visitors appeared most impressed to find at the stand of Ajinomoto Group that their commercial activities were not limited to production of sweeteners but diversified in food products as well as amino acids, pharmaceutical and other health & nutritional products, extended worldwide to meet the global needs.

Many visitors expressed their particular interests in food products that are available outside Japan but not yet widely known in France, such as Amino Vital, functional foods from Ajinomoto USA for sport enthusiasts; instant buckwheat noodles with Japanese taste from Ajinomoto Poland and sweets and drinks from Calpis Co. in Japan. The visitors expressed their wishes that they look forward to seeing those products in the local stores before long.
The mayor of the city, Mr Bertrand Ringot, visited the Ajinomoto stand to thank the Group for their long contributions to the local economy and industry and also for the active participation at the events. He further commented that the presence of the Group in Gravelines was a very good example of a successful relationship of the two countries.
