Ajinomoto Co., Inc receives Franco-Japanese Investment Award 2006

The Invest in France Agency created the France-Japanese Investment Award in 2004 to promote the active commercial and industrial exchanges between France and Japan. The award is given in recognition of the companies that contribute significantly to the economic development of France and Japan by direct investments into those two countries.
For the year 2006 Award, Ajinomoto Co., Inc. represented by the current C.E.O, Mr. Norio Yamaguchi, received this prize from Mrs. Christine Lagarde, French Trade Minister during the ceremony held at the Hotel New Ootani in Tokyo on the 29th November. It was well recognised that Ajinomoto group started their European business activities in France as early as 1954 and after steady development it employs more than 600 people today within their four affiliates in this country.
Congratulations sent from the local authorities of the Nord Pas de Calais region starting from Mr. Michel Delebarre, ex- French state minister and actual President of Dunkerke urban community, confirmed their appreciation that the Ajinomoto Group recently transformed its production site in Gravelines city into a European platform of their sweetener operations under AJINOMOTO SWEETENERS EUROPE S.A.S.
Mr. Yamaguchi expressed that it was a great honour for Ajinomoto Group to receive this endorsement of the highest recognition of the long effort of their business development in France. While thanking the supports from the French authorities, business partners, customers and all those who had participated in their business operations, he confirmed that Ajinomoto Group would continue to strengthen its operations in France, which is the core of Ajinomoto ’s Europe-Africa business.

The creation of AJINOMOTO SWEETENERS EUROPE S.A.S., was celebrated at their site in Gravelines city on the 11th October. The new entity unites the two forces, the production (Ajinomoto Euro-Aspartame S.A.S.) and the marketing (Ajinomoto Switzerland AG) in the platform positioned in the centre of Europe. As obesity and diabetes are becoming the serious social problems in many advanced countries, the global demand for Aspartame sweetener continues to rise. In front of their employees, business partners and local authorities, Mr. Norifumi Okita, the new president of AJINOMOTO SWEETENERS EUROPE S.A.S., together with Mr. Hiroaki Nomura, president of AJINOMOTO EUROPE S.A.S. confirmed the company’s commitment to advance further in the tough competition of the market and to contribute to a better life of all the stake holders.
