Visits to the AJINOMOTO EUROLYSINE’s Amiens factory

The top managements of the AJINOMOTO EUROPE S.A.S. and AJINOMOTO EUROLYSINE S.A.S. had the honor of receiving His Excellency Mr. Shinichi Kitajima, the Japanese Ambassador to the OECD at the site of AEL’s factory in Amiens (France) on 20th October.After the general presentation of the Ajinomoto Group’s operations including its history of more than 50 years in Europe and in Africa, Mr. Kitajima responded that he was very much impressed by the level of Ajinomoto’s commitment to biotechnology and by its remarkably technology oriented strategy in this part of the world. Having previously visited a factory of TOYOTA, one of the world leaders of the automobile industry, located in the north of France, Mr. Kitajima showed his satisfaction of finding another company representing Japan, this time in biotechnology, during his visit to this Amiens factory.

The Students from the Waseda University

On 3rd November, under the slightly chilly blue sky of the Picardie, a group of students from the Faculty of the Commerce of the Waseda University, one of the most prestigious private universities in Japan, visited AEL’s Amiens factory. It was a part of their international business training trip organized by Mr Nobuo Kawabe, Professor of Business History of this University.
For most of them, the image of the Ajinomoto Group has been limited as being the leader of the consumer oriented foods company in Japan. When the lecture about our European operations ( the animal nutrition, the fine chemicals, the foods ingredients e.g.), was given everyone was very surprised to discover another face of the group, a world leader of the amino acids production.
Then they learned the merits of using the amino-acids in the animal feeds and other operational information including AEL’s Integrated Management System which reinforces smooth, safety and environment conscious operations of the company.
They also had an opportunity for discussions on the financial result of the group, the technique and the material for fermentation industry, the method of marketing and so on. As for the fermentation industry, they appeared to have gained the first-hand knowledge whilst touring the immense site of the factory.
