Ajinomoto Co., Inc. has two important research and development facilities in Europe.

The Ajinomoto-Genetika Research Institute (AGRI), was established in 1998 in Moscow. In 2003 AGRI became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ajinomoto Co. Inc. The main mission of AGRI is research and development of microorganisms-producers of amino acids and nucleic acids. The institute's high activity has made great contribution to developing technology of obtaining the said products shown through plenty of scientific publications and 127 patents. Strains developed by AGRI are widely applicable at Ajinomoto's plants.



In Belgium S.A. Ajinomoto OmniChem N.V. 's R&D in Fine Chemicals offers strong technology platforms in chemistry and services for custom manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients. The Natural Specialties division focuses on the development of extraction and purification processes of new botanical products ("extracts from nature") and their application for the pharmaceutical, food and beverage, cosmetic and textile market. The Tensiofix division supports the development of new surfactant mixtures for the formulation of agrochemical products.
