Ajinomoto Co., Inc. has two important research and development facilities in Europe.
The Ajinomoto-Genetika Research Institute (AGRI), established in
1998 in Moscow brings together Ajinomoto Co., Inc.'s skills in the science
of amino
acids, which have been developed over a period of more than forty
years, with the resources of the Russian State Scientific Center GNIIGenetika,
one of the world's leading scientific centers for research in biotechnology
field. The main mission of AGRI is research and development of amino
acids and nucleic acids producing microorganisms. The institute’s
high activities have been shown through scientific publications
and over 30 patent applications. In January 2000, AGRI received
a State Scientific Accreditation from the Russian government, an
official acknowledgment
of its status and one of the leading research institutes in the
country.
Ajinomoto
Pharmaceuticals Europe Limited (APEL) was
established in 1999 to complement the Ajinomoto Co., Inc.’s global
plan for development of innovative drugs. Working closely with The
Ajinomoto Group companies, APEL has been engaged in the clinical development
activities in Europe
for the main therapeutic areas of GI and Diabetes.
