Pharmaceutical Fine Chemicals

The main activity of OmniChem (a division of S.A. Ajinomoto OmniChem N.V. in Belgium) is to develop and manufacture pharmaceutical fine chemicals.
For more than 30 years, OmniChem has built up close partnerships with an increasing number of pharmaceutical companies worldwide in the field of process development and supply of key pharmaceutical intermediates and active ingredients. This continuous overall progress is directly linked to the expansion of OmniChem's technologies portfolio and production know-how. But besides its technological arsenal and its substantial production capacity, OmniChem offers to its customers a level of quality and service exactly matching the demands and expectations of today’s pharmaceutical world and this under strict confidentiality terms.
Each project is supported, on a confidential basis, by an R&D team of around 80 highly-qualified and experienced chemists, integrating the very first lab experiments and pilot trials up to full industrial production. The development is carried out in close and open collaboration with the customer’s technical staff and coordinated through an efficient project management system. What OmniChem offers is actually a cocktail of know-how, high technology, quality, flexibility and trustworthiness, based on a human potential of the highest level and on adapted equipments and multi-purpose facilities.
OmniChem’s key expertise covers, amongst others, azide chemistry, catalytic hydrogenation, hydride reduction, phosgenation, nitration, processes requiring low temperatures (-100°C), handling of highly active (HAPI) and cytotoxic materials thanks to the use of high containment facilities up to class 5. Moreover, the broad technology within The Ajinomoto Group is available in order to address specific challenges like un-natural amino acids, nucleotides, peptides development and manufacturing or enzymatic reactions.
In addition to that expertise, its experience in the extraction and purification of botanicals has placed S.A. Ajinomoto OmniChem N.V. at the top of the partners list in this other field of activity, as gallotannins for various applications, custom extraction (botanicals and fermentation broth) and purification service to pharmaceutical and food industries.

Amino Acids for Pharmaceutical and Food/Beverage Uses

In 1956, Ajinomoto Co., Inc. became the first company in the world to produce amino acid crystals for infusions, enteral nutrition products and pharmaceutical ingredients. The areas of amino acid applications are now expanded to food, beverage and toiletry products to add nutritional and physiological value to the products.
As the world leader of amino acid, the Ajinomoto Group holds 60% share of high-quality amino acids being supported by 9 production basis in the world.
In Europe, S.A. Ajinomoto OmniChem N.V. provides both a full range of the Ajinomoto Brand amino acids including L-Arg, L-Gln, L-Ile, L-Leu and L-Val together with custom blends tailored to the needs of customers for the application of pharmaceutical, food, beverage and toiletry. In addition to the excellent quality which is to be expected from the world’s leading producer of amino acids, the company offers its customers technical and regulatory assistance which are essentials to commercialize the products containing amino acids.
